Creative Connection Workshop

This is all you need to know about the Creative Connection Workshop.

What are we going to be doing?

In this two part workshop we will be using clay to journey within, to rediscover our true creative selves. And I will be your guide.

We’re all creative. As children we created with a sense of freedom and confidence. As adults, so many of us have been creatively wounded and either don’t believe we are creative or are fixated with outcome and perfectionism. In this workshop we explore this idea, our own beliefs and reacquaint ourselves with our pure creative essence setting us on the path to transformation and healing, empowering us to achieve our greatest potential both creatively & in life.

This will be a safe, private space - no lcell phones, no social media, just me and up to 8 of you. With wisdom gained through my personal experiences, I will gently guide you on this beautiful, unfolding exploration.

For those of you who don't know who I am, this is my story.

I have no creative or clay work experience, can I still take part?

Absolutely. No previous clay experience needed. This workshop is for anyone - whether creative in the traditional sense of the word or not.

For those who have worked with clay before, please note we will be using basic clay techniques in this workshop to do the real exploration which is around creativity itself.

This workshop is not focused on the making of pieces but on the creative process whilst making pieces.

What do I need to bring?

Clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty in.
I will provide you with everything else - aprons, materials and a delicious harvest brunch style feast.

Do I have to attend both parts of the workshop?

Yes you do. The workshop has been carefully constructed in two parts, with a week in-between for you to process and implement learnings from Part 1 and for me to bisc fire your pieces.

Part 1 is about making with clay inspired by guided creative reconnection, memory work, some group and various tactile, sensory & exploratory exercises.

Part 2 is about reflection and the continuance of the creative exploration working with colour, various decorative and underglazing techniques.

The exercises we do are powerful and will have a deep impact on how you both view and express yourself creatively. Throughout the workshop we'll be focusing on creating in the present, exploration, non-attachment, play and the creative process.

At the end of the two parts you will:
- be reacquainted with your creative self and at the beginning of your unique creative journey. An experience and way of viewing yourself as a creative being that will serve you lifelong, in your everyday life.
- have at least one ceramic piece made by you that will serve as your creative talisman.

Where & when?

For now workshops will be taking place at our new studio in Vredehoek, Cape Town CBD.

Dates for following workshops can be found and booked here.

What does the workshop cost, what does it include?

"It was phenomenal to say the least. It's opened my mind and creativity in more ways than I had expected. It was just what I needed. I feel a little floored by the experience. I can highly recommend it to anyone needing a creative boost or a meditative healing experience. Thank you!" Karen

“As a creative professional, I found incredible value in this course. The course and it’s presentation was well crafted to allow for a private and authentic experience. Alexia does an incredible job of making the space safe to enjoy and explore” Theo

“This workshop opened my mind, expanded my understanding of self and of what it means to be creative. How to be better at introspection and how to begin to tackle mental hurdles in my journey towards being a more balanced and creative person. Set in an authentic, calming and creatively nurturing environment and guided by a truly inspired and inspiring human” Paulo

“I would recommend this course to anyone - you don’t need to be “artistic” to get in touch with your own creativity. I learnt to let go of the perfectionist outcome that I look for in all I do and just enjoy the moment. This was an eye opening, relaxing and enlightening experience” Simone

“The workshop was heart warming, truly relaxing and fun at the same time. I never considered myself to be creative, and if you feel the same way the workshop will teach/remind you that you don’t have to be a painter, sculptor or a poet to be a creative person. And it does so in a friendly, warm and non judgmental way.” - Irmina

“I felt that I was in a huge rut with regard to my creative expression and output as a jewellery designer. Being creative for me means I have to make money and therefore I had lost the joy and simplicity of creating from the heart. But somehow this workshop has loosened the grip of my need for a perfect outcome and allowed me to just create for the sake of creating. It has awakened the wonderful innocent curiosity of creating like a child again. Something has definitely shifted. I highly recommend Alexia’s safe nurturing environment. She is a wonderful intuitive guide.” Nicola
